Dahlia Tasks

Having been gifted some Dahlia bulbs, and getting out last year's lifted bulbs, it was time to put them back into the ground.

Our chosen spot, as last year, was underneath the large blue notice board at the Carisbrooke Road car park entrance.

A nice easy starter job that guarantees a splash of colour later in the year.

The rest of the day also comprised of several other small tasks.

The chipper was rolled out and we chipped some brash from the previous coppicing of the hazels. The chippings were laid down at the communal entrance with Knighton hall.

We also started to dig over the target area for our willow rods. This area has been waterlogged for some weeks.

The donated picnic bench got it's first coat of wood stain. This has been a slow process as well due to constant rain.

Dr John Bailey also continued to dig out the persistent brambles. A very useful task as it avoids the use of weed killers on site.

I see John as our trail blazer, out in front, clearing a path for the rest of us to follow!
