More Seating

Took advantage of the dry weather this morning to give a recently donated second-hand bench a lick of paint.

This bench was spotted sitting outside a property on Carisbrooke Road.

A quick enquiry and it soon made its way up to the arboretum.

Having sat in the rain for several days this morning it was sufficiently dry to sand and paint.

Many hands soon made light work of the sanding and the first coat of paint went on before tea break.

Quick drying, a second coat of paint of was applied after break and once dry the bench was moved out to the arboretum for use.

True Grit

A few weeks ago we took delivery of a couple of tonne bags of aggregate. This material is used for running repairs to our paths after heavy rains.

Today we took some time to empty the bags into a single pile of aggregate at the side of the car park. Good thing to as the bags were beginning to solidify into blocks.

Val tackled mowing the accessible areas at the top of the arboretum. The grass has been growing at a good rate and the constant rain has made it difficult to gain access to the lawns.

For others the work at the Yew grove continued. This is another area again thick with brambles and we continued to spend time here clearing away and shaping our yews. A bit more work and we will have added a little group of Yew trees to the growing list of features in the arboretum.
