'Shiver me timbers'

The donated bench
Drying out overnight
Assembling the bench

A very bitter start to the day, with temperatures somewhere around -5 degrees, meant only a small group turnout today, with only the hardiest individuals signing in.

This actually suited very well. Larger numbers would have been difficult to employ gainfully. Only indoor work was feasible under such difficult conditions and fortunately we had a bench to assemble.

Tea break and a bench test!

The bench was kindly donated by one of our own volunteers; Katie G. We set to work putting together the jigsaw in the comfort of the classroom. By tea break it was completed - so we tested it out.

After break, we positioned it in the middle of the arboretum, beside the path and near the oak trees.

When it is a bit warmer, we shall jet wash it and give it a lick of wood stain to complete the job. Well done everyone !
