Despite the forecast the rain held off to allow us to clock up yet another productive and enjoyable multi-tasking session.
Valerie volunteered to take on the grass cutting. A formidable job as the ride-on mower is currently out of service. Val has become very proficient and by the end of the day had hand-mowed an astonishing ninety percent of the arboretum.
Keith and Kate made good the damage suffered by the path from the torrential rains that we suffered the previous Saturday. Good job too as a local school is about to start their regular running programme around the arboretum paths.
A recent procurement of some perspex allowed us to upgrade and improve the noticeboard located at the arb entrance. Having being cut to size, Jenny had a go at drilling out and mounting the sheet onto the front of the noticeboard. Nice job. Now our information sheets have some protection from wind and rain.
Phil, Robert, Ram and I completed several other jobs around the arboretum, including cutting back growth at the ponds and lower paths, installing two wooden stakes as information poles, and probably most fun, putting up a rope slackline for the younger visitors to enjoy on their visits.
Aurelie called by, on her birthday, and dished out slices of chocolate cake. A pleasant surprise.
