As previously stated in this blog, the wild garlic is now coming into season, and prolific in many areas of the arboretum.
Amongst our volunteers are several cooks, and the chance to spend an hour collecting fresh ingredients for the pot was to good to miss.
As can be seen from the wonderful dishes produced, everyone seemed to spend Thursday afternoon in the kitchen!
One ongoing project is the construction of a simple badger hide behind the visitor centre overlooking the active sett.
Having spent the previous Thursday coppicing some of our hazel trees we have ended up with some useful building materials.
The plan is to erect a wattle hurdle from this hazel to act as a screen.
Today we started to clear away ant hills and bramble growth from the designated hide site.
A bit more tidying and levelling and we should be ready to start constructing our hurdle.
